Meatless Meatballs Recipe
While these "meatballs" don't actually have meat in them, they're still full of flavour and has a texture you'll love.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup pecans, finely ground
- 2 cups mushrooms, chopped
- 2 cups breadcrumbs, fine
- 1/4 cup wheat germ
- 2 cups cottage cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Allspice Essence
- 1/4 teaspoon powdered sage
- 2 tablespoons Green Seasoning
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1/4 cup margarine
For the Sauce:
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon West Indian Pepper Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Green Seasoning
Directions
- Sauté onions and mushrooms in margarine until tender and golden brown.
- Combine breadcrumbs, wheatgerm, cheese eggs, salt and spices in a bowl. Add onions and mushrooms and mix thoroughly
- When cooled, form into balls by putting a rounded teaspoon of mixture into the palm of your hands. Roll into a ball and place balls on a cookie sheet.
- Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
- Fry balls in oil until brown, turning gently not to break them
- Simmer balls in tomato sauce with green seasoning and hot sauce.
Serve over sweet potato pasta for an enjoyable meal.
